There has been so much talk about the traffic in our country nowadays.

For some, it has discouraged them from travelling to town.

However, this has given entrepreneurs in the country a bright idea to set up their businesses in places near people’s homes rather than centralising everything in one place.

For Nasilai Village, a 10 minute drive from Nausori Town, getting through the traffic to travel to Nausori, Nakasi or Suva for grocery shopping is a big hassle especially for the senior citizens in the village.

This is according to the Singh’s Supermarket managing director Shalendra Singh who had opened the first supermarket in the village last Friday.

He said instead of people going through the traffic to do their shopping, they can save their time and bus fare by shopping at his supermarket which has items ranging from groceries to household items and liquor.

Around $1.5 million was invested into the supermarket that has a warehouse located behind it.

General manager Frances Karunesh said the price of items is similar to the price of goods sold at supermarkets in Nausori town.
