Health Gifts Help Unit To Serve Patients Well

The Oncology Unit at Colonial War Hospital received a timely donation from the Minister for Industry, Trade, Tourism, Lands and Mineral Resources Faiyaz Koya.
Mr Koya said his staff was very supportive of the visit to present the gifts to the department.
“Our gifts may not be much, but it’s given with love and well wishes for a great year ahead,” he said.
“Every Christmas the two ministries come together and do this and this year we decided to come here.
“The ministry consulted the unit in what was needed and that’s exactly what we got them. We didn’t want to buy something that they didn’t need.”
Mr Koya said the gifts would be one way of acknowledging the hard work put in by the Oncology Unit and allow them to serve their patients well.
Colonial War Memorial Hospital Medical Superintendent, Dr Jemesa Tudravu said they were grateful for the help they received.
“We are fortunate the minister is here on behalf of the ministry to show support for the work that’s done here,” he said.
“The gifts will be useful to patients. This is one way of showing patients that they are not alone and the community is behind them.”
Gifts presented by Mr Koya included blankets, pillows, bed sheets, groceries and fruit.
