Road Condition

Suruj Deo Ram Bahar ,  Nausori

This is one issue that I would like to bring to the public’s attention. The road condition from Korovou to Nausori is pathetic, with numerous potholes. It’s hard to avoid them while driving and it definitely can cause a fatal accident.

I urge the authorities concerned to look into it to safeguard the public from any harm or danger.

Media Freedom

Amenatave Yaconisau,  Delainavesi

Freedom of speech and expression are guaranteed by this Government, let alone the freedom of others to criticise them.

The referral by the Attorney-General that other media outlets live in the past (FS19/12) is indeed sad. It just exaggerates the political importance of these media outlets and their ability to mould public opinion. Such deviant influences. The idea of multi-racialism, oneness, and democratic participation are promoted now. These media outlets are trying to influence public opinion against government.

This is corrupt electoral practices. Let’s get on same page!

Fiji Football

Sharif Shah ,  Savusavu

Mr Christophe Gamel, to improve the standard of football in Fiji, you must enforce local league competition in every district.

Don’t run it just for the sake of it. Any district that does not run the local league should not be allowed to field a district team. That’s in the FFA constitution. But what is happening is totally the opposite.

The last club competition that was organised in Savusavu was 13 years ago. That speaks volumes.

Talents are wasted. The good chief executive is trying to run a soccer franchise similar to the English Premier League (EPL).

In our days the club competition was so strong… a club team could even thrash the present national team or any given district team.

The Fiji Football Association (Fiji FA) is full of “yes man”. You are the only sharp shooters there.

If you want to produce results, please have a five-year development programme.Don’t waste your time with the present crop of senior players, but relook at youths in organised club competition. The youths are your future. They will give you 15 years of playing time. Seniors whom you are relying on will give you one year, if lucky.

Just ask your present national team members as to how many have actually played club competition. The answer will be crystal clear.

And to top it up, please close the transfer window for good. No long service ….no combination.

Lies and Misinformation

Taitusi Sokiveta,  Phoenix, Arizona

It’s totally true what the Prime  Minister Frank Bainimarama is saying.

You can really hurt people with your lies.

It needs to stop and people who do this should be put to jail.

People who do this are also very cunning.

They will email or message you on Facebook and then talk to you so when they lie to you it’s not on email or message where you have solid proof of their lies.

It will be that person’s word against yours.

It’s very evil and cold.

Water Worries

Divesh Kumar,  Nadi

I agree with what Sunil Prasad said about the Water Authority of Fiji in yesterday’s Letters.

I have called the Attorney-General on five different occasions when there was water cuts.

I had to resort to calling him because the customer care people were no help at all. But now is not the time to look at the past.

We have to find the right person for the Chief Executive Officer position and that needs to be someone who understands how to run a water business.

Let’s focus on that.
