A market vendor’s worry of transporting his produce from his village to Suva is now over.

Usaia Covatu Korodrau from Nabuli, Rewa, was given not just a Christmas present he’d always remember but something he can use for his business.

The 56-year-old who is a vendor at Sukhu Park on Grantham Road was winner of a brand new Nissan Navara worth $75,000 thanks to Vodafone’s eTransport promotion.

The promotion requires eTransport users to just top up their cards and be in the draw to win.

“My wife and I would hire vans and travel in the bus to bring our produce from Nabuli, Rewa to Suva but now we no longer have to worry, this has been a blessing,” he said.

“I didn’t know all this while I had been tapping my card I was going into this major draw, and win this Nissan Navara.

“We need to understand that this Government knows our problem.”

Wife, Mere Marama, also 56, said: “We have been through a lot in life and God knows how happy we are today, this vehicle will really ease our burden. What more could we ask for?”

Vodafone chief marketing officer Rajinesh Prasad said the eTransport initiative had brought about a major transformation in the transport industry.

Mr Prasad said a lot had been achieved in a very short time, and a lot more would be happening in the future in terms of digitising services.

There were 50 other consolation prizes won with the major one being won by Mr Korodrau.
