Nailaga Gear Up For Uprising 7s

The Nailaga Under-19 team is looking forward to the Uprising Youth 7s scheduled at Lawaqa Park in Sigatoka for January 17.

The event is part of the Mana Whey Fiji Coral Coast 7s and the pool draw is scheduled on January 10.

“Competition for spots is high and that’s why we prepared so early,” team manager Ananaiasa Mocei said.

“I’ve seen some players from Nailaga go and play in other teams like Wardens and Red Rock. But they need to play for Nailaga to be recognised and that’s why are forming this Under-19 team.

This is the second year for them participating.

“The boys know what to expect from their opponents, and also last year one of our player was selected in the Ratu Kadavulevu School Under-18 team which won the Coke Zero Deans Trophy and later selected into the Fijian Schoolboys that toured New Zealand.

Nearly all the boys played last year are playing again this year as most of them are 16 and 17 years old the youngest is 15.

They will be banking on their experienced players like Asesela Dakua, Serevi Qiosese and exciting young rover Epeli Ranitu.

He added the side is calling on business- houses to support them.

Meanwhile, former Wallabies skipper George Gregan boosted the Miriama Kunavula Foundation with his rugby kits.

The respective teams Sigatoka River Safari sponsored Henibua and Tubairata were thankful to the former halfback for his assistance.
