ACCIDENT COMPENSATION COMMISSION FIJI APPOINTS CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER
A comprehensive recruitment process was undertaken by the Accident Compensation Commission Fiji, which sought local and international candidates for the chief executive officer position.
The commission announced yesterday the appointment of Parvez Akbar as the commission’s chief executive officer.
Mr Akbar’s career began in 1995 as a lawyer in Fiji.
After working for a law firm for four years, Mr Akbar established his own practice in Nadi then migrated to New Zealand.
He specialised in Employment Law.
He has successfully provided advice and representation at various levels in his specialist area and is admitted to the High Courts of Fiji, New Zealand and Australia.
He has had experience with the Accident Compensation scheme in NZ and has provided advice on a range of matters in respect of the scheme.
His appointment will come into effect on January 1, 2018.
