Army man fined $100 for drink driving, in default 30 days jail term
A Republic of Fiji Military Forces personnel was fined $100 by the Suva Magistrates Court yesterday for a drink driving charge.
Joseva Temo, 35, of Nasinu appeared before Magistrate Jioji Boseiwaqa.
The court heard that on November 4, 2017, at Stinson Parade in Suva, Temo being the holder of a learner’s permit drove a motor vehicle while there was present in the blood a concentration of alcohol in access of the prescribed limit.
Magistrate Boseiwaqa told the accused to pay the fine within 30 days, in default, 10 days imprisonment.
His learner’s permit was also suspended for three months.
The case was adjourned to February 1, 2018, for a review of payment in court.

Edited by Caroline Ratucadra Man ordered to have psychiatric evaluation at St Giles Hospital
The Nadi Magistrates Court has ordered a psychiatric evaluation for an accused charged with one count of trespassing of a designated area.
The accused appeared before Magistrate Siromi Turaga on Wednesday.
Representing the State, prosecutor Sergeant Francis Bale said the accused failed to provide travel documents when enquired by the staff present at the Nadi International Airport.
The court heard that the accused, Ratu Emori Naqova Jnr, had unlawfully entered into the flight boarding area at the airport.
Magistrate Turaga referred the accused to the St Giles Hospital in Suva for psychiatric evaluation to see if he was fit to make a plea. After the evaluation the matter will be called at the Nadi Magistrates Court.
