As Christmas approaches, retired Catholic sisters at Our Lady of Nazareth Home in Wailoku are not forgotten.

Yesterday, they were filled with laughter while being entertained by some members of the St Joseph the Worker Parish Tamavua.

The parishioners presented Christmas gifts while the children entertained the residents with dance items.

Sister-in-charge Mariana Rokomatu said they were grateful for the assistance they had received to date.

“We are very thankful for everyone that has been visiting us. It shows that people still think of these ladies,” Sister Mariana said.

“We have been visited every day and today we were visited by the President of Fiji, different parish groups, organisations and companies like Vodafone Fiji. We are blessed.

“There are families who have come and cooked for us and sing carols. It is good to see them (the retired sisters) smile and laugh.”

There are 10 retired sisters who are residents at the Home. They are being cared for by Sister Maria Lanieta, Sister Maria Rosa, Sister Mariana and nurse Sister Maria Udite.
