Kalabu High School has made a big leap in its Fiji Year 13 and Year 12 performances.

Principal Michael Kant said the pass rate for Year 13 this year was 79 per cent compared to 36 per cent last year.

For Year 12, it was 57 per cent compared to 10 per cent last year.

“For the past few years Kalabu High School external marks was underperforming. Mostly it was below 50 per cent pass rate,” Mr Kant said.

“We are happy with their performance and it is satisfac­tory to know that their hard work has paid off. We have 14 students for year 13 and 21 students for year 12.”

“This year our highest mark for Fiji Year 12 examination was 348 and that was a huge mark for us.”

He said some people might think that the percentage pass was less but for Kalabu High School it meant a lot.

School manager Asaeli Malewa thanked the teachers for their hard work in helping students achieve such impres­sive results.

Mr Kant also acknowledged his team of hardworking and dedicated teachers for the wonderful results, parents for their support and the students for their commitment to­wards school work.

Top Year 12 student Sofaia Ledua, of Lakeba in Lau, who scored 348/400, said she was happy with her results.

She thanked her teachers for sacrificing their time taking night classes, Saturday classes and afternoon classes.
