Nadi New Year’s Party Is On

The Nadi New Year’s street party countdown is on.

After a four-year lapse, the Nadi Town Council special administrator Robin Ali said: “It is confirmed Nadi town will be hosting the street party this year and we have chosen the event to be held at the Koroivolu Park.

“We are in the final stages drawing up the plan with our partnership with Fiji Broadcasting Corporation.”

The last party street party is expected to attract as many as 6000 people to the tourist town with live entertainment provided by local artists and great music selection.

Mr Ali said it would be more like a mini carnival featuring selected rides and stalls set up for the one-night-of-the-year event.

Nadi saw its first street party in 2009.

Nadi Chamber of Commerce and Industry president Dr Ram Raju said: “It is a good idea to have this in the township once again and as long it is not blocking any street. We support the idea.”

He called on business houses to support the event.

Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Dhamendra Dutt said Police will be there to monitor the crowd.

And it is also expected that bus companies will extend their hours of service for the revellers.
