Rakiraki To Welcome 2018 With Party

Rakiraki Town Council plans to host a street party to herald in the New Year.

Council acting chief executive officer Tulsi Ram said the laid back town was all geared up to welcome 2018 on a high note.

“We are still in the planning stages, but definitely Rakiraki will have a street party,” he said.

“At our next meeting we will plan accordingly.”

He has invited people living along the Tavua and Rakiraki corridor to come out in force and celebrate the occasion.

“This is a must for members of the public to enjoy an opportune time for people in the area to forget the past and embrace the future,” Mr Ram said.

“This is a way forward for the township and the greater province of Ra.

“We invite everyone to come together and join us when we count down to the New Year.

Meanwhile, Ba Town Council chief executive officer  Dip Narayan said they were still waiting on their sponsors, who have yet to confirm whether a street party would be held or otherwise.

Tavua Town Council chief executive officer Binesh Naidu has ruled out any possibility of hosting the event to herald in the New Year.

“There will be no street party because of financial constraints in the township,” he said
