Fiji National Rugby League chairman Filimoni Vosarogo said they would be standing by players like Jarryd Hayne who have played for Vodafone Fijian Bati.

He made the comment after Hayne was accused of raping a woman in the United States.

“I have not had the chance to go through the details of the case and the media reports on it, I am sure that his legal team is handling it pretty well.

“But as a sporting organisation we are always behind all the players that have played for us, either for their welfare or we will always be there to support them,” Vosarogo said.

He made these comments following questions forwarded to him by SUNsports regarding their position in the current allegations against Hayne.

The news made headlines across many international media organisations, where it was reported that a civil lawsuit was filed earlier this week.

According to the Sydney Morning Herald this included allegations of sexual battery, gender based violence, infliction of emotional distress and negligence.

The alleged incident was suspected to have taken place during his time as a member of the San Francisco 49ers.

They also reported that the Police had refused to press chargers due to insufficient evidence but the alleged victim, ‘Ms V’, is now seeking compensatory damages.
