Ministry Of Economy Announces Appointments

Following a functional review and restructure in the Ministry of Economy, the Ministry is pleased to announce the following appointments to its senior executive management team.
Permanent Secretary for Economy, Makereta Konrote congratulated the new appointees.
Other senior executive positions for Administration and Corporate Services, and Government Fleet Management will be announced in due course.
Head of Treasury –Pankaj Singh:
He has over 17 years of experience in Government in areas of financial management, accounting policy, debt management, cash flow planning, auditing, budget formulation, loan negotiations and strategic planning.
During his career, Mr Singh has held managerial positions across the Ministry and was the Chief Accountant prior to this role. He is currently a board director at Air Terminal Services, Post Fiji Limited and the Banaban Trust Fund.
Head of Budget and Planning – Isoa Talemaibua
He has over 17 years of experience in the private sector and Government specifically in the areas of public sector budgeting, public finance management and development planning.
Mr Talemaibua has a Post Graduate Certificate in Human Resource Management and a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Accounting and Economics and from the University of the South Pacific.
Head of Fiscal Policy, Research and Analysis – Shiri Gounder:
He has over 10 years of experience with both the Reserve Bank of Fiji and the Ministry of Economy in areas of national budget formulation, macroeconomic analysis and forecasting, fiscal and monetary policy formulation, taxation & customs policy design, public financial management and statistics. He has also held other senior roles in the Ministry and is a Board Director at the Unit Trust of Fiji.
Head of Capital Construction Implementation – Mohammed Shah:
He has over 20 years of experience in project management and contract administration for large public sector capital projects, including expertise in due diligence, project design, documentation, and, implementation and monitoring. Prior to his new role, he worked and held managerial positions in other Ministries and Departments.
Mr Shah has a Master’s degree in Business Administration from the University of the South Pacific.
Head of Climate Change and International Co-operation – Nilesh Prakash:
He has over 14 years of research, planning and policy development experience having worked on socio-economic and sustainable development issues in Fiji through the various roles he has held with the Ministry of Economy.
Head of Procurement – Saimoni Veramu:
He has over 15 years of experience in areas of corporate finance, supply chain management, auditing and procurement. Prior to his new role, he was the Supply Chain Manager for British American Tobacco managing procurement, warehousing, exports and planning. He has also worked at the Fiji Ports Corporation and PricewaterhouseCoopers.
