The Marist Old Boys Association (MOBA) held a thanksgiving church service at Lambert Hall in Flagstaff on Thursday and prayed for its president Opetaia Ravai and his family as well as all MOBA members.

There are more than 4000 members around the country with a vast number of members around the world carrying out the values of the Marist Brothers.

MOBA general secretary Felix Magnus said the thanksgiving mass was for all activities the old boys held during 2017.

“Every year we conduct a thanksgiving service where the old boys come down with their families and celebrate mass and thank the Marist Brothers for giving us a great education,” Mr Magnus said.

“After the mass, we present the Marist Brothers with a sevusevu to acknowledge them for all the hard work they have done here in Fiji, especially in the area of education.

“We also acknowledge the old boys, who have passed away. In the mass we offer prayers for them and their families while remembering the contributions they have made.”

The old boys also offer the mass for their respective families, especially for the MOBA president, Opetaia Ravai who is in New Zealand for a vacation.

“We pray for peace during the trying and hard times they are going through,” Mr Magnus said.

“The mass is about coming together to reflect on all the activities carried out by the MOBA, how it has contributed to our country and nation building, our contribution to local communities and mostly how have we contributed to our own families.”
