Our Fijian peacekeepers to the United Nations Disengagement Observer Force in Golan Heights were blessed with visitors to the camp on Christmas Day.

Commanding Officer Lieutenant-Colonel Sakeasi Baka said: “We were blessed to have the presence of our visitors from Fiji – the Davuilevu Theological Center group, the Takape Family from Jerusalem and Draunidalo family from England (British Army).”

Christmas at the Golan began with a church service at the Koronikalou Chapel followed by an early lunch.

“After lunch the visitors were treated and hosted by the Ops Cell for a short brief at the Bula House, followed by a veiqaravi vakavanua (traditional gathering for a guest) that started at 1400hrs.”

Meanwhile, RFMF Peacekeeping Support Operations director and military adviser Lieutenant-Colonel Pacolo Luveni said the latest report received from the Golan and other peacekeeping missions showed stability.

“The Fijian contingent remains vigilant and alert, maintaining an adequate security posture and presence in their area of responsibility,” he said.

“The Fijian contingent continue to monitor the fluid security environment in which they operate in.”
