A 24-year-old driver who allegedly landed 10 people at Labasa Hospital on Christmas Eve appeared at Labasa Magistrates Court yesterday.

Shonal Prasad, who was facing three different counts related to dangerous driving, appeared before Magistrate Jeremaia Savou.

Police Prosecutor Constable Vishal Verma told the court that the accused was allegedly driving under the influence of alcohol and allegedly drove his four-wheel drive vehicle onto the opposite lane and collided with another vehicle driven by a 51-year-old farmer carrying five passengers at Vunimoli in Labasa.

Two female passengers sustained injuries and others were treated and sent home from Labasa Hospital. Prasad said he wished to engage a private lawyer.

He was bailed out on the sum of $300. The case has been adjourned to February 12 for mention.
