2 new races planned for New Year’s Eve

The Fiji Car Club will be hosting their final series of the Pacific Energy quarter-mile drag race at the Nanuku Aerodrome in Pacific Harbour, Deuba this Sunday.

Speaking to SUNsports yesterday, club president Raizal Hanif said they’re expecting 45 cars to compete at the New Year’s Eve drag race.

“This will be the final series of the Pacific Energy quarter-mile drag race and the biggest car race of the year,” he said.

“We’re expecting 45 cars to participate in this car race and there’s a likely chance for the number to decrease as it is also the festive season.

“The big guns will be competing at the race and we’re expecting about 1000 spectators to turn-up for the event.

“We will also be introducing two new competitions where the first one will be the new Ladies hybrid class which will have less than 2000 and over 2000(cc) engine capacity. “While the second competition will be the diesel under 2500cc and over that will regarded as an open category.

“We’ll also have lots of entertainment and food stalls for the families and bouncy castle for the children to enjoy. I would like to urge all members of the public to please come out in numbers to support our last race of the year.”
