Fijian Students In India Looking Forward To Home After Graduation

Fijian students studying in Bangalore, India, are look­ing forward to returning home in the new year.

This year they celebrated Christmas with other for­eign students in India.

The Fijian students are studying under the Indian Council for Cultural Relation (ICCR) Scholarship scheme.

Shivam Gounder said he missed his family especially dur­ing Christmas.

“Being away from loved ones doesn’t really give that feel­ing of enjoyment.

“I miss my family especially my dad, my mum, my brother, my sister, my friends and relatives,” Mr Gounder said.

“I remember every year for Christmas and New Year my dad used to take us for a picnic.

“I miss the lovo and Christmas and New Year get together.”

“I’m thankful to the Lord Almighty with his wisdom and my parents blessing I’ve successfully completed my two and half years of courses. I am really looking forward to coming home.”

Swashna Chand said she celebrated Christmas with her friends, who have become her family in India.

“I really miss my family this Christmas and I am looking forward to next year when I will be back home in Fiji,” Ms Chand said.

“I am definitely excited about returning home and Christ­mas and New Year is not the same without our families.”

Ms Chand had attended Jai Narayan College in Suva, while Mr Gounder had attended Labasa Sangam College.

They both graduate in the new year.

Ms Chand is currently doing a Bachelor in Journalism while Mr Gounder is doing a Bachelor in Business Admin­istration.
