On Saturday, December 16, 2017, Ponipate R Rokolekutu of Vunimono, Bau, Tailevu, graduated from the University of Hawaii.
Dr Rokolekutu gained his PhD in Politics – Dissertation – Interrogating the Vanua: Understanding the Economic Marginalisation of iTaukei: Focus on Indigenous Politics.
He acknowledges and is deeply grateful to the many friends, relatives, professors, mentors, and supporters who were with him every step of the way in his journey to attaining his Doctor of Philosophy in Politics.
In addition to acknowledging the many people, Dr Rokolekutu paid a special tribute to his sweetheart.
“I wish to acknowledge the love of my life, Laisane Rokofue Kedrabuka. The successful completion of this journey and the realisation of this vision would not have been possible without your commitment, passion and for sharing the vision for the next generation of iTaukei,” he said.
“Thank you for your faith in God, in me and in yourself. You have been a source of courage, motivation and strength throughout the course of this journey. You are indeed the grace girl that I do not deserve.”
