Pillay Garment’s Champion versus Champion series title holders Lautoka will field a strong side in their opening clash against Labasa at Subrail Park on Saturday.

The Blues are going to bank on the lethal strike force of Samuela Drudru, Christopher Wasasala and Zibraaz Sahib in their campaign to defend the CvC title.

Speaking to SUNsports yesterday, Lautoka Football Association president Abdul Kadar said they are confident of winning the series.

“Labasa will be tough in our first away game this season,” he said.

“Our team has been training well and we’ll do our best to win the series.”

Kadar said they have a busy schedule ahead prior to competing in the Oceania Football Confederation’s Champions League competition.

“We have the CvC to play and then straight after that the return leg of the series at our home ground next Friday.

“We’re playing our first Vodafone Premier League match next weekend. It’s a busy schedule for us and we are prepared for it.”

Kadar said at the moment the Babasiga Lions are their main target and they are going out for a winning start.

“Our coach has been working hard to form a good side and we have full faith in our players to win this title for us,” Kadar added.

Meanwhile, Labasa Football Association vice-president Rohinil Chand has called on their fans to come out in numbers on Saturday to support their CvC campaign.

He said the team have been training for the past two weeks and attendance has been good.

“We are not underestimating Lautoka because like any other team they must been preparing well for the clash.”
