Two men charged with the alleged possession of 201 grammes of marijuana were bailed by the Suva Magistrates Court yesterday.

Peni Talemaitoga and Simione Serukalou appeared before Magistrate Jioji Boseiwaqa where their right to have a counsel represent them was put to them.

The duo both requested for representation by the Legal Aid Commission.

On December 30 last year the two men were allegedly found in a vehicle at Namadi Heights whilst being in the possession of a black Puma bag containing 15 large rolls of dried leaves wrapped in aluminium foil.

The two large rolls of dried leaves wrapped in aluminium foil was reportedly found under the driver’s car mat.

Further Serukalou, who is alleged to have been driving the vehicle at the time of the alleged incident, did not have a valid driver’s licence.

Police Prosecutor Sergeant Farook Mohammed served the accused men with full phase disclosures and requested the court to impose strict bail and reporting conditions.

Magistrate Jioji Boseiwaqa released Talemaitoga and Serukalou on a $300 bail with standard bail conditions and ordered them to report to the Nabua Police Station every first Saturday of the month between 6am and 6pm. The case was adjourned to January 24 for mention.
