There was an air of excitement on New Year’s Day at the Dilkusha Home in Nausori.

Home suprintendent-in-charge Deaconess Leba Laveti was delighted to see so many families and groups visit the children yesterday.

“The children are also excited to see visitors. It is only 1pm and already we have had six families visit us. I’m grateful they are thinking of the children at this time,” she said.

“The visitors brought things that are useful for the children and now we are sorting out stationary because the new school year will start soon.

“Some children are at their relative’s house and they will return by January 6.”

Kell Investment Fiji Limited brought cakes, juice and groceries. Company director Meenakshni Vinod said it was a social responsibility to look after children at the home.

She said at least twice a month they brought groceries with some school supplies.

“These children are unfortunate, but they still have good faith in themselves and the Dilkusha Home family,” Ms Vinod said.

“We want to be a part of their little smiles so we always bring in stuff for them to eat, groceries, school supplies and clothes.

“It’s a company tradition to help these children as they grow to be a better person.”

There are 42 children living at Dilkusha Home.
