The Republic of Fiji Military Forces (RFMF) is closely monitoring the Air Terminal Services (ATS) strike.

This was confirmed to the Fiji Sun by chief of staff Colonel Ratu Jone Kalouniwai.

Colonel Kalouniwai said section 131 (2) of the Constitution  explains the RFMF responsibility and it says – “ It shall be the overall responsibility of the Republic of Fiji Military Forces to ensure at all times the security, defence and well-being of Fiji and all Fijians.”

This is the third week of the strike. He has urged the workers to go back to work.

Government had sent a release to the Fiji Sun and said that striking workers should sign the letter prepared by the management and go back to work.

It also said that they should not be listening to the Social Democratic Liberal Party (SODELPA), Sitiveni Rabuka, National Federation Party (NFP) and the now suspended People’s Democratic Party (PDP) because they were not well versed with the workers’ legislations.
