Sports Awards Set For March 2

The 2017 Fiji Sports Awards will be held on March 2 at the newly refurbished National Gymnasium in Suva.
During the official launching yesterday, chairman of the 2017 Fiji Sports Awards Manasa Baravilala says the annual event recognises and rewards high achievers from various sports.
“This is a joint initiative by the Fiji Sports Council, the Fiji Association of Sports and Olympic Committee (FASANOC) and the Fijian National Sports Commission,” Baravilala said.
“The 2017 Fiji Sports Awards will be held on March 2 at the Fiji Sports Council’s newly refurbished National Gymnasium in Laucala Bay.
“We are encouraging national Sporting federations to nominate athletes and those behind the scene for the 2017 Fiji Sports Awards.
“The awards also allows for national sporting federations to nominate their outstanding young and elite athletes, administrators, coaches, technical officials as well as volunteers and sporting photographs for the many categories that are being contested.”
Meanwhile, FASANOC sports development manager Lyndall Fisher said nominations for the awards must be submitted no later than 5pm on January 19.
The awards that are up for grabs are:
*Technical Official of the Year;
*Volunteer of the Year, Coach of the Year, *Photograph of the Year;
*Administrator of the Year;
*Sports Team of the Year;
*Sports Organization of the Year;
*Young Female Athlete of the Year;
*Young Male Athlete of the Year;
*Sportswoman of the Year and Sportsman of the Year.
