BLK has sealed the $2500 sponsorship deal to partner Island Breeze Rugby Plus on their five-day workshop programme that will be held at Rukuruku Village in Ovalau.

The programme seeks to create more awareness for youths especially rugby players in preparing their life after rugby.

“Our main theme for the five- day workshop is empowering youths and tackling youth issues through rugby development,” Island Breeze Rugby Plus workshop co-ordinator Malakai Yamaivava said.

He said they have registered over 80 participants from all across the country for the programme. The workshop is from January 7-12.

BLK marketing manager Liga Gukisuva said yesterday they were honoured to be part of the programme.

“We had gone through the proposal they had sent us and we’re happy that not only are they focused on the development of the basics of rugby but they also looked at life after rugby,” Gukisuva said.

He said this was an important issue because of incidents that happened in the past.

“Issues concerning players who came back from serving their contracts at the end of their career, now having to restart their lives from scratch.”
