Four swimmers qualify

Four swimmers have qualified for the 2018 Commonwealth Games in Gold Coast Australia on April 4-15.
They are Taichi Vakasama, Matelita Buadromo, Herbert Rabua and Cheyenne Rova.
Fiji Swimming president Ben Rova expects more swimmers to qualify for the four-yearly event.
“Our first selection was conducted on December 29 where we managed to select four swimmers,” Rova said.
“These swimmers were accompanied by head coach Sharon Smith to the recent Queensland State Swimming Championship.
“However, we are encouraging other swimmers to prove themselves if they’re interested to be part of the Commonwealth Games swimming squad.
“We also have three swimmers currently competing in the United States and at the end of the month we will be having a high performance coach in the country who will be conducting training with the final squad.”
Fiji Swimming will be organising local competitions for the swimmers prior to the Commonwealth Games which will allow swimmers to get enough training and exposure.
“The selection committee is expecting to send the final list of swimmers to the Fiji Association of Sports and National Olympic Committee by Monday,” he added
