The Linda Shannon coached- Sanx Nadi  Aviators 7s team are looking forward to making their debut at the Mana Whey Fiji Coral Coast 7s tournament at Lawaqa Park, Sigatoka this month.

Team manager Jacquelin Shannon told SUNsports yesterday that the Nadi Aviators rugby league women’s side was formed in 2017.

She said they’ve an important task ahead of them and are working towards it.

“Given this is our first ever sevens competition and it’s also the biggest local tournament in the South Pacific,” Shannon said.

“We’ve now ventured into sevens rugby as part of the off season programme for the 2018 season. The girls although excited, are very wary of the tough competition, especially this being their first outing.

“Thirteen players make-up the young squad, with the average age at 22. In addition, this will give the girls a chance to expose themselves in both codes at top level.”

Some notable players in the team are Fijiana XVs No.8 and Aviators captain Sereana Nagatalevu and first five eight Merewalesi Rokovono.

They face defending champions Fiji Airways Fijiana 7s team along with top guns like Striders, Nadi Blazers and international teams from Japan and Hong Kong as well.

Shannon said they are extremely grateful to the support of their sponsor Snax from Papua New Guinea and club president, Joe Gray.
