A production order was extended by Suva Magistrate Asanga Bodaragama yesterday after accused, Mosese Rokosuka Hicks, failed to appear in court yesterday.

Hicks is charged alongside Joeli Pulu, both facing two counts each of serious assault and resisting arrest.

It is alleged that on September 15, 2017, the two men were sitting at a bus stop in Nabua with another who was wanted for arrest.

When three Police officers went to the location to arrest the wanted man, it is alleged that Pulu and Hicks started assaulting them, which resulted in their injuries.

The accused managed to escape.

Pulu and Hicks were then arrested, interviewed under caution where they denied the allegation.

Pulu appeared in court yesterday while Hicks failed to appear.

Defence lawyer Esala Radio appeared for the first accused whose bail was extended.

The case was adjourned to January 18 ,for plea. Edited by Caroline Ratucadra
