NewWorld Announces $25K Pledge Each To Pinktober And Movember

NewWorld IGA will step up its fundraising drive to support this year’s Pinktober and Movember awareness campaigns by pledging $25,000 each.
Yesterday, the supermarket chain handed over $25,000 for the Pinktober campaign last year to the Fiji Cancer Society at Vatuwaqa, Suva.
NewWorld head of merchandise Jodie Hart said: “NewWorld participated in many charity drives and this is the biggest charity drive.
“We raised this money by selling pink merchandise (bands, ribbon, and Eco bag) and placed collection tins at our store registers.
“This is the second year we have been supporting FCS and the money we’re donating today was collected within six weeks.
“The health of every individual is important and more machine is needed for our cancer patients.”
She thanked customers who supported them behind the worthy cause.
Fiji Cancer Society chief executive officer Belinda Chen said: “Transportation is vital, especially when we need to transport patients from their homes.
“We are looking at sourcing medical equipment for the hospital to help them with the testing, in particular breast cancer.
“We also purchase chemo drugs, only if there is a lack of medicine.”
