Market vendor, 35, pleads guilty to assault charge
A market vendor pleaded guilty in the Suva Magistrates Court on Thursday to assaulting a 41-year-old barbecue seller at the Flagstaff Minimarket on September 14 last year.
On the day of the offence, the accused Mosese Matasiga, 35, went to the complainant’s stall and bought a serve of barbacue.
After a few minutes he went back to the BBQ stall and started punching the complainant who received injuries on his abdomen.
On September 18, 2017, Matasiga was arrested and when interviewed under caution he admitted to the allegation. He was later formally charged for the offence of assault causing actual bodily harm.
Magistrate Deepika Prakash questioned the accused on why he assaulted the complainant to which he said the complainant had charged him a dollar more for a serve of barbecue.
The case was adjourned to February 20, 2018, for sentencing by Magistrate Deepika Prakash.

Man charged for allegedly obtaining money by deception
A self-employed man of Nadera appeared in the Suva Magistrates Court on Friday charged with one count of operating without a real estate agent licence and one count of obtaining financial advantage by deception.
Rahul Chaundry, 28, is alleged to have acted as a real estate agent and dishonestly obtained $2500 from two brothers who had engaged his services in the hope of selling their home.
The accused appeared before Magistrate Priyantha Liyanage and was granted bail in the sum of $1500 surety bond.
The case has been adjourned to January 12 for Chaundry’s plea to be heard.
