Fleet Manager Pleads Not Guilty

A former fleet manager of a transport company pleaded not guilty in the Suva Magistrates Court to one count each of theft, fraudulent falsification of accounts, false and misleading documents and attempt to obtain financial advantage by deception.
Vashu Reddy appeared before Magistrate Deepika Prakash on Thursday and waived his right to counsel by opting to represent himself.
On the first count of theft, it is alleged that on October 1 and 22 last year the accused stole a Westpac Bank $3196.70 cheque which belonged to his employer.
For the second count, Reddy and another on the same date fraudulently falsified the cheque by altering the date and the amount from $3196.70 to $1196.70.
On October 22, 2017 the accused with an accomplice then produced the fraudulent cheque to another person knowing that the document was false.
On that same day Reddy attempted to dishonestly obtain $1196.70 using the cheque.
He denied all four charges.
Magistrate Prakash extended bail and adjourned the matter to March 28 for mention.
