Three amateur boxers Jone Koroilagilagi, Josefa Ravudi and Olympian Winston Hill (pictured) have confirmed their place in the Team Fiji contingent for the Commonwealth Games in Gold Coast, Australia.

Team Fiji boxing coach Pauliasi Ratu said the trio were the only confirmed boxers for the Games in April.

“But we will also have a seven member B team who will be training with the three boxers when they march into camp in February,” Ratu said.

Koroilagilagi will be featuring in the 64kg category, while Hill in the 69kg and Ravudi in the 74kg.

Ratu said every boxer has a fair idea of what is needed to be done before heading to the Commonwealth Games.

“They all know their weaknesses but one thing is for sure they need to be working hard on improving on where we left off after what happened at the Pacific Mini Games in Port Vila.”

He said they had a lengthy discussion during their review of their

Mini Games performance.

“One thing we will be looking into is the changing of our training times and ensuring optimum rest for our boxers after training.”

At the 1982 Commonwealth Games in Brisbane, Australia, light heavyweight boxer Sani Fine won the gold medal for the Fiji.
