The Fiji Football Association received $200,000 from Vodafone Fiji Limited yesterday.

This is for the 2018 Vodafone Premier League competition which starts on Sunday.

Vodafone chief marketing officer Rajnesh Prasad was grateful for the opportunity to continue their partnership with Fiji FA.

“Vodafone together with Fiji Football had a very long relationship, almost a decade now,” Prasad said.

“Vodafone is in the forefront in developing sports in the country sponsoring rugby, league and football.

“Vodafone Premier League is one of the major sporting events in the country and it is also one of the major tournaments organised by the Fiji FA.

“Over the years there had been many successes by the Fiji FA where we have witnessed the development of youth, women and men league.

“I am proud to say that Vodafone will continue to support Fiji FA.”

Fiji FA president Rajesh Patel was overwhelmed with the sponsorship and he looks forward to more development of football in the country.

“Vodafone has been a major partner when we started to take a new direction in development of football in Fiji,” Patel said.

“We decided that development of women’s football is just as important as the men’s. And this would not be been possible without sponsorship that

“Fiji FA is very proud to say that this is our final year of sponsorship but we are happy that Vodafone wants to continue with their sponsorship.

“However, our focus has always been if you want to get better players in football we have to start form the grassroots. As far as Fiji FA is concerned we would like to thank Vodafone Fiji for being one of the best corporate sponsors for Fiji FA.”
