Rugby For Riwai

The passion of playing rugby is what that keeps the Biaugunu, Saqani, Cakaudrove native Viniana Riwai going.
Fiji Airways Fijiana squad member vows to improve her discipline in 2017/2018 Women Sevens Series in Sydney later this month.
“After our Dubai tournament one area I want to improve is my discipline, many times we do the opposite of what we are told to do,”
“To have a better finish in this season and make the Commonwealth Games I will have to improve my discipline,” Riwai said.
The Cakaudrove native plays for Marist Seahawks and made her national debut in Guangzhou, China in 2012, then the Rugby World Cup in Moscow, Russia.
“It will not be an easy season building up to the Commonwealth Games. We have been training before Christmas and our aim now is to try and finish in the top two spots in one tournament.
“It’s good to see some of the new girls joining Fijiana camp and we are just helping each other out in the area of our skills so we can continue to produce positive results,” she added.
The 25 year old began her sporting career in football representing Labasa Muslim College before she was selected to be part of the Labasa women’s team that won the Inter District Championship two years in a row in 2012 and 2013.
