Nursing School Attracts 400 Applicants

As the primary and secondary schools gear up for the new year, tertiary institutes are anticipating busy days ahead.

The Then India Sanmarga Ikya (TISI) Sangam College of Nursing & Health Care Education said it received more than 400 applications from students.

The school enrolment period has started and despite the big interest, the school can only accommodate 110.

During the enrolment period, the Sangam College of Nursing and Health Care Education director, Eleni Kata, said they faced many challenges as well.

“Contacting students who have been shortlisted for interview is one issue. Some of them provide telephone numbers that are either diverted all the time or unreachable,” Ms Kata said.

“Some unfortunately do not even provide any contact details at all.”

To avoid disappointments, the school is urging students and parents to provide them with the right details, information and documents concerning their child.

“So when we don’t get through to them they can always apply the next year,” Ms Kata said.

“They have qualified because we have certain criteria that must be met before the students are called for an interview.”

Like any institute, she said they had rules and regulations to follow.

The school enrolment started on Monday and will end on Friday. Next week will be dedicated to orientation.
