Fiji Rugby Union looks forward to select the best local players after the 2018 Skipper Provincial Rugby 10s this Saturday at Bidesi Park.

The Rugby 10s will see eight teams Nadroga,Nadi,Suva,Rewa,Namosi   ,Navosa,Naitasiri and Malolo competing for the $5000 first prize-money .

The competition will offer a wider selection base for national coaches and opportunities for players to make a case for selection for the Brisbane Global Rugby 10s  at Suncorp Stadium on February 9-10.

FRU chief executive officer John O’Connor said they were committed to create pathways for our local players.

“The FRU board has been committed to creating pathways for our local players. Their  inclusion gives our local players another opportunity to be exposed to international competition especially after our inclusion in the Australian National Rugby Championship.

“This year’s draw will see our team face some extremely strong opposition against the Super Rugby powerhouses the Brumbies, Hurricanes and Crusaders.

Playing these franchises will benefit Fiji Rugby in the long run. But first we must prepare as preparations will be the key,” O’Connor said.
