It’s all about change and Suva Peninsula Hotel is no different.

The hotel located at the corner of McGregor Road and Pender Street in Suva is undergoing vast refurbishment and upgrading of their facilities.

What was initially a $2 million investment has been increased to $3m because of the changes to the original project plan.

The newly refurbished hotel lobby is operational as well and there are plans to open the new Baka bar in the next three months.

The hotel management recently launched a brand new set of uniforms for the five different departments with an investment of $9000.

The hotel general manager Nouitesh Chand said the occupancy of the hotel has been good.

“Each department has its colour quota, which adds more formality for the 55 staff employed by the hotel,”said Mr Chand.

“It would also make it easier for our customers to identify the different staff who would help them with what they need and want, when they use the hotel facilities.

“Upgrading the conference rooms and a new gift shop are also part of the improvement plans as the hotel stands at a three star rating.

“The management has also splurged for upgrading and adding six more rooms to the current hotel facility which gives a total of 106  rooms once the renovations have finished,”said Mr Chand.

The restaurant and upcoming Baka Bar on the ground floor will be open to the general public in the coming months.

The conference rooms will be available for hire, for meetings and other functions once renovations are complete.

“The new upgrades are targeted at increasing the functionality of the premises and bring in positive financial growth through the years”.

He said the changes made to the hotel and the ongoing projects continually make Peninsula a viable place of stay as the atmosphere is radiant.

Meanwhile, the Hillcrest Restaurant located in the hotel has been garnering good business since its opening from in-house and walk-in guests 15 months ago.
