Setback in Vodafone Premier League prep as capital city looks for new coach.

The Suva football side has suspended three key players from all football competitions for three years.

This was after they were found guilty of bringing disrepute to the sport during the 2017 Courts Inter-District Championship.

The three players are national goalkeeper Tevita Koroi, defender Leone Damudamu and veteran midfielder Pita Rabo.

Suva Football president Ritesh Pratap said the suspension of key players will impact the team’s preparation for the Vodafone Premier League which starts on Sunday. Suva plays Rewa 3pm at Ratu Cakobau Park.

“I feel our training is not coming out well as we like after the suspension of the three players,” Pratap said.

“As you aware during the last Courts Inter-District Championship there had been some incidents that happened where these players were found guilty and are suspended for that.

“Apart from that two of our players are back in the Solomon Islands and then we have three players who are currently students at the University of the South Pacific.

“We are also looking for a new fulltime coach.

“Also in Suva we hardly have B or C license coaches so that another factor that affecting the side at the moment.

“We aware Rewa is the champion side but I do not doubt my players as well because most of them will be returning to camp this week. We will give Rewa a good run.”
