Words could not describe the excitement and buzz when the Fiji Police Force band performed in selected villages in Cakaudrove province this week.

Fiji Police Force director of community policing Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Waqa Cavuilati said yesterday evening they concluded the three-day programme with the help of Fiji Police Brass Band supported by the Police Jazz Band.

“We are very happy to receive great response from the villages that we have visited with the help of the band,” SSP Cavuilati said.

“We chose those villages that are in red zone areas where crime is common.

“With the help of the band, we were able to carry out our community policing and requested them to support us in our fight against crime.

“Many people gave their assurance that they will help stop crime,” SSP Cavuilati said.

“We do not have a plan now as to when to return with a similar community policing programme.

“It is up to the Northern Divisional Police Commander (DPC) Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Verani Nakauyaca to decide when there is a need.”

SSP Nakauyaca said he was very happy to see so many people happy and feeling secured to see Police presence.

The 50-member band left for Suva yesterday.
