The Suva Magistrates Court will hear the plea of a Lautoka truck driver on February 15 after he appeared in court last Thursday charged with the unlawful possession of four sachets of dried leaves believed to be marijuana.

32-year-old Sachindra Mani appeared before Magistrate Asanga Bodaragama represented by a private lawyer.

On November 14 last year without lawful authority Mani allegedly possessed 2.5 grams of Cannabis Sativa, an illicit drug.

Defence counsel sought direction from the court if they could submit the accused’s mitigation to which they were informed that the accused was yet to plea and could not mitigate without a plea.

The case was then adjourned to February 15 for the accused’s plea after defence counsel sought a long mention date as he would be travelling overseas.
