Delegation to participate at upcoming Forum in Vietnam

Climate change, food security and sustainable developments are among other important subjects that the Fijian delegation to the upcoming 26th Asia-Pacific Parliamentary Forum (APPF) will be focusing on.
The delegation is led by the Speaker Dr Jiko Luveni. The forum will be held later in the week from January 18 to 21, in Hanoi and hosted by the Vietnam National Assembly.
Dr Luveni has encouraged the Fijian delegates to participate actively and effectively in all the scheduled meetings at the APPF.
“As last year’s successful host of this high-level forum, we would like to maintain that momentum by having an impactful contribution to this year’s 26th APPF,” she said.
The delegates are expected to speak on various topics such as climate change, security, food security and nutrition and sustainable development, highlighting the efforts of both the Government and Parliament in progressing these development issues.
They are also expected to participate in the forum’s working groups.
The delegates include the Minister for Immigration, National Security and Defence Ratu Inoke Kubuabola, Minister for Youth and Sports Laisenia Tuitubou, government backbencher- Samuela Vunivalu and opposition Members of Parliament Niko Nawaikula and Semesa Karavaki.
Also accompanying the delegates are the secretariat support staff namely, the Secretary-General to Parliament- Viniana Namosimalua, manager tables- Sakiusa Rakai and manager research and policy analyst-Josua Namoce.
The 26th APPF theme is- Parliamentary Partnership for Peace, Innovation.
