Fiji Airways Fijian 7s new find Eroni Sau is determined to make every tackle of his counts.

Speaking to SUNsports, the Naviti native from Yasawa, says playing against the best wingers in the world during the World Sevens Series is something that he’s starting to enjoy.

“I know many of them are faster and have more experience in the game but I never let that get to my head,” the former Fijian Bati winger said.

“I trust my abilities in getting the job done. “ All I know during defence when I catch or tackle them, I try to make it count. I want them to realise and be aware of the fact that I’m there.”

Sau however, indicated that he still has much to learn about the abbreviated code but would continue working on improving his performance from every game.

“It is a good learning experience for me especially after having to switch codes. I’m enjoying it but I have much to learn and I’m working on improving my performance with every game.”

Sau’s sterling performance during the Dubai and Cape Town tournaments has begun to attract attention.

He was commended by head coach Gareth Baber on his outstanding performance during his debut tournaments in the series.

“I want to thank the coaching and management staff for trusting me and selecting me to be in the Fijian 7s team,” Sau added.

The speedster is expected to make the 13-member squad to play in the Sydney and the Hamilton 7s tournaments, which starts at the end of the month.

He and Waisea Nacuqu have been dubbed by Baber as one of the best finishers in the series.
