A Ba businessman is calling on the Ba Town Council to immediately address the drainage problem in Ba town.

Dinesh Kumar did not hold back his frustration when the Fiji Sun visited his shop that was flooded during the heavy downpour on Sunday night.

“I am sick and tired of cleaning up after a flood. I am tired of having to calculate my losses each time we have a flood,” an emotional Mr Kumar said.

His business, K-Cube Variety Store was flooded through and water reached the cash register counter damaging clothes, cosmetics and household goods.

“We waded in through water last night when we got the  call that the town was flooding and by the time we got to the shop, there was little we could do. Everything was underwater.”

When the Fiji Sun arrived at the shop, the cleaning up crew were taking a short break after being at the shop from the early hours of the morning.

“We’ve hardly taken a break. It’s now after lunch and it feels like we have not reached halfway. There is so much to do. Water has damaged everything.” Mr Kumar’s son, Kaushik said.
