Not being able to afford trendy clothes or shoes, she would cut up her old clothes and hand sew them into something trendy and wearable.

Florence Fineanganofo, is a young fashion designer, who has put her passion for fashion to life.

“I started “Romanii Designs” as I was a stay at home mum and as Romanii is actually from my sons name Roman, who inspires me in so many ways,”said Ms Fineanganofo., of Suva.

“When I brought this small business which is an online based design and tailoring business, whereby I design and tailor-make dresses for women of all ages, both local and overseas based.

“I believe Romanii Designs is all about convenience and the idea behind this business is very personal to me as it started way back in my high school years, as I grew up with a single father at the time,” Ms  Fineanganofo.

Not being able to afford trendy clothes or shoes, she would cut up her old clothes and hand sew them into something trendy and wearable.

“That way I wouldn’t have to feel left out whenever my friends compared their outfit and I did that throughout my high school years.

“I realised that a lot of us women already have something in mind that we would like to wear, hence I wanted to become that designer that women can come to with a particular style and design they would like for me to create.

“Establishing a steady customer base was a challenge for me like any new entreprenuer but the challenges are part of progress,” she explained.

As part of her plans she is hoping to venture out into established markets to sell her designs.

“My experience in starting up this small business would be something I would take back to my community, especially to young women such as stay at home mothers that dream of starting their own businesses.”

Her advice to young people is challenge yourself, take the risk, have a vision and work at it.
