The David Mayes coached- Star USA men and women’s rugby sevens teams are looking forward to playing at the Mana Whey Fiji Coral Coast 7’s this weekend.

Team director Liz Entwhistle said yesterday the teams are made-up of players from seven countries and that has given them the much-needed flair.

“This is our first time at the Coral Coast 7s and majority of the players are here for the first time as well,” she said.

“We have players from different states, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Germany,  South Africans and Fijians who currently working in the US.”

The Fijians in the men’s team are Atunaisa Matanisiga and Joseva Rakabu.

She said there are some injuries but they’re excited especially after a successful outing at the 2017 Central Coast Sevens in Australia.

The women’s side are in Pool Q alongside Cross of Victory Taveuni, BLK Iron Courage, and Wardens.

“Looking at the competition in the mens, you have teams like Yamacia, Police and Wardens and it’s different to something we see back home,” she added.

Meanwhile, in Sigatoka the teams will also participate in surfing, visitng the sand dunes, river excursions and school visits.
