Former Fiji Airways Fijians 7s rep Pio Tuwai will be featuring for McDonald’s Saunaka in his fourth 2018 Mana Whey Fiji Coral Coast Sevens which starts on Friday .

The Votua, Ba native is well known for his crisp offloading and passing skills and will join forces with 2016 Rio Olympics gold medal winners Vatemo Ravouvou, Kitione Taliga, and Masivesi Dakuwaqa.

“We have played in nearly all the major 7s tournament in the country but we have not won the Coral Coast Sevens,” he said.

“We want to end this winless drought this year.

“We have a good set of boys and we are looking forward to it.”

Other players in the side include Sainivalati Ramuwai, Mesake Tuinamena, Bill Morawa and former Army Green rep Sevuloni Lutu.

They are in Pool S with Coastal Ratu Filise, Hong Kong and Tovolea.

Team director Ponijese Rayasi said they are looking forward to the competition.

“The competition is always tough but we take our chances,” he said.

“We have very good players and hope to end the winless drought. It will be very interesting.”

The Mana Whey Fiji Coral Coast Sevens is dubbed as the champion of champions for the Pacific Rim.

It was established by the Coral Coast Chapter of Fiji Hotel and Tourism Association (FHTA) and the Nadroga Rugby Union in 2010 with a focus on offering the local sides a new and tough competition.

The Uprising Youth Sevens will start today while the Crest Na Iri Trophy games for women start tomorrow and the men’s competition starts on Friday..
