The Team Fiji weightlifting contingent will leave for New Caledonia at the end of the month to prepare for the Australian Open.

“They will be going to a week-long training camp at the Oceania Weightlifting Institute as they build-up for the Australian Open in February. It’s part of our Commonwealth Games build-up,” Team Fiji general manager/ Weightlifting Fiji life member Christopher Yee said.

The three-day competition starts on February 23.

The Fijian lifters comprised Commonwealth Games medal prospects Apolonia Vavai, Manueli Tulo and Eileen Cikamatana.

They will train under the guidance of Oceania Weightlifting Federation general secretary Paul Coffa, who is currently training Cikamatana.
