Rubbish being dumped on the road side

Residents along Narere Road are complaining about the piles of rubbish being dumped in front of the Narere Mini Town in Nasinu.

The rubbish has been there for weeks.

A resident, Joeli Nawa, claimed that the rubbish was dumped by the tenants who were renting at the Narere Mini Town.

Mr Nawa described the foul smell eminating from the dump as unbearable.

A tenant at Narere Mini Town, Mitieli Rokolacadamu, 20, said they moved in to the area in 2015 and they have been placing their rubbish on the road side.

He said the council often comes to collect the rubbish.

“But today (yesterday) we didn’t see any garbage truck come around for rubbish collection,” Mr Rokolacadamu said.

Owner of Narere Mini Town Indar Deo claimed other residents were also dumping their rubbish at the same spot.

He said they came in their cars to dump the rubbish at night.

Nasinu Town Council chief executive officer, Lute Berends said Narere was scheduled for rubbish collection this week.
