Frespac Ginger (Fiji) Ltd is opening its refurbished factory on Wednesday next week.

The company is a member of the Buderim Group – an international ginger marketer and strong supporter of the Fijian Government initiative on the five Year Plan for an Economically and Environmentally Sustainable Fiji Ginger Industry.

Minister for Agriculture Inia Seruiratu is expected to be officiate at the opening of the refurbished factory.

Factory manager Sushant Krishna said: “The refurbishing investment has been made to the existing factory. This includes new concrete floor in the main brining and cutting room.

“New coating to the cooking/processing floor, significant paint work through the entire site and amenities facelift for our team.

“This upgrade was necessary to maintain the high level of quality ginger being produced by Frespac.

“We can now consider the next level of technology investment to be made at the Frespac site.”

Mr Krishna said the total investment to the refurbishment was over $300,000.

“Business is progressing well and we see Frespac is in a strategic position to expand our existing international markets from Fiji and to support the Fijian Government’s Five Year Ginger Industry Growth Plan.

“Buderim Group is focused on new product development and where Frespac supports our innovation for our international markets.

“Currently, the company is selling to six major international markets Europe, USA, Canada, Australia, New Zealand and the UK.

“Of course there are the local markets in Fiji.

“As these are major international markets, the focus is to actually expand these markets through new innovative products rather than explore new markets.

“However, if the opportunity arises then we will always consider new opportunities.

“One of the major agenda items for Frespac and Buderim Group in the future, is how do we work together with the Fiji Government to deliver the ginger industry plan.

It took more than two months for the refurbishment work to be completed.

It was done during the festive season when all the workers were on annual leave.
