The Rewa football team will be working on their defence before the Vodafone Premier League competition resumes.

Rewa coach Marika Rodu said despite losing their first match 3-2 against Suva 3-2 last Sunday they are determined to make a comeback.

“I have reminded the players to move on and focus on their match,” Rodu said.

“We haven’t been training since our last match and hopeful we start with our normal training today.

“We’ll take one game at a time. We’ve identified our main weakness which was our defence and we have sorted out ways we’re going to tackle it during our training session. And keep in mind that we need to settle into the play during the beginning of the game, get possession and to be in control.

“Apart from that, we want to maintain patience and composure throughout the 90 minutes and keep a look out for those goal scoring opportunities.”

Rodu said despite two of their key players are hoping to join Suva, it will not be a loss to the side as he still has got capable players to step in.

“I wouldn’t say that the decision made by Iosefo Verevou and Mohammed Nizal to join the Suva side will be a loss to our team as we still have capable players that can fill up the gaps.

“And also I feel that it is a good opportunity for other young players to grow and develop their skills as well and become more experienced. There are some players that have shown keen interest to join us but we’re still deciding on whether to take them onboard as we still have enough players in the side.”
